Avitas Systems is an industrial AI company that provides asset inspection and risk-based analytics as a service to oil and gas and power customers. Avitas paired AI and asset-specific sensor modalities (aerial, ground, and subsea) to autonomously gather data, use machine-learning algorithms, and analyze fused data to help develop risk-based inspection and maintenance optimization plans. Avitas raised $23M in venture funding and was subsequently acquired by Baker Hughes in January 2019.

Leading a team focused on market development and commercialization of breakthrough products and business models across the GE businesses. Collaborating closely internally with the GE Global Research Center, the business verticals, and externally with entrepreneurs and thought leaders to bring new methods (e.g., lean startup methodology and open innovation) to bear in helping dramatically speed time to market and design innovative new products. Overseeing the Advanced Manufacturing commercial strategy which runs from new product design methods, high-end 3D printing, and our involvement with makers and hardware hackers. Co-founded the GE Open Innovation (crowd-sourcing) Center of Excellence. Dedicated to bringing products to market that make the world a better place.

Led the vision and strategy effort for the President. Working with senior leadership to determine AMEX’s roadmap for growth for the next 3-5 years. This included co-leading and participating in workstreams to identify the new consumer design target, determine the product line strategy, develop the digital product roadmap, and evolve our loyalty program (Membership Rewards). Created the consumer segmentation and CRM strategy for the President, to be used to link all efforts from branding, to product design, and marketing. Helped re-align both the budget and the org structure to help make the strategy successful.

Responsible for portfolio strategy and all product actions across AMEX’s three portfolios: Charge, Lending, and Co-Brand/Partner cards. Launched 4 new cards, expected to yield 2.5 million new customers and generate over $4 billion in revenue. Refreshed value propositions of 5 cards. Launched AMEX’s first 2 mobile apps and several new digital capabilities. Core member of the social media and PR strategy team for Zync product launch (focused on younger demographic).
Director of Portfolio Strategy, Consumer Cards
2007 - 2008
Created the detailed portfolio strategy for all Consumer Card products, linking consumer needs, competitive landscape, shareholder needs (i.e., financials), and internal capabilities. Identified “white space opportunities” that would lay the foundation for future growth. One such recommendation was one of 5 chosen to be funded by the Chairman’s Innovation Fund.
Director of Marketing - New Card Acquisition, Charge Card Portfolio
2005 - 2007
Managed a $130 million marketing division responsible for driving cross-channel card acquisition focused on the Charge cards and the affluent consumer. Channels included internet, direct mail, and telemarketing. Drove over 1 million new customer acquisitions and over $1.6 billion in spend in one year, contributing to the highest acquisition volume year in AMEX recent history. Developed break-through marketing campaigns that increased our penetration in the affluent space by 65% in a year and a half.
