Djerassi Resident Artists Program (djerassi.org) is the largest artist residency in the Western US, situated on 583 acres in Woodside gifted by the Djerassi family and is now solely supported by an independent California 501c3 nonprofit that has provided 2,500+ fee-free artist residencies since 1979. Djerassi Resident Artists Program has hosted writers, visual artists, photographers, filmmakers, composers, and choreographers from 54 countries and all 50 states, with 66% of alumni who identify as female and non-binary. Over 100 are groundbreaking and award-winning creators, including John Adams, Viet Thanh Nguyen, John Roloff, Lava Thomas, and Sidra Bell. Strategic partners include Stanford Arts, Peninsula Open Space Trust, Villa Albertine, Diasporic Vietnamese Artists Network (DVAN), and Leonardo/ISAST. The land is a rare jewel in the heart of Silicon Valley, featuring views of the Pacific Ocean features, over 90 large-scale art installations and sculptures, and accommodations for private residencies, group retreats, and events (resetatdjerassi.org).
