Gleacher & Company, Inc. operated an investment banking business, providing corporate and institutional clients with strategic and financial advisory services, including merger and acquisition, restructuring, recapitalization, and strategic alternative analysis, as well as capital raising, research based investment analysis, and securities brokerage services. At the Company’s 2014 Annual Meeting of Stockholders, stockholders approved a plan of dissolution and liquidation of the Company. I joined the firm in July 2008 through American Technology Research, Inc. (AmTech), a broker-dealer specializing in institutional research, sales and trading in the technology, clean tech and defense areas. AmTech was founded in 2002 by a team of professionals formerly with SoundView Technology Group, Inc. to provide money making ideas to institutional investors through quality, unbiased, fundamental research. AmTech was acquired by Broadpoint Securities Group, Inc. (formerly First Albany) in September 2008. In March 2009, Broadpoint acquired Gleacher Partners, Inc., a boutique investment bank that focused primarily on M&A advisory. Gleacher Partners was founded in 1990 by Eric Gleacher, who started Lehman Brothers' M&A division in 1978 and ran Morgan Stanley's M&A group in the 1980s. Broadpoint Gleacher renamed to Gleacher & Company in March 2010.
