Education Program Lead
2021 - 2023
As Education Program Lead, I was responsible for the creation, design, implementation, evaluation, and promotion of Rocket Lab's international education programs. Roles, responsibilities, and projects: - Established the Space Ambassador Schools network as the foundation of our education programs, to manage engagement and partnerships with schools, community organisations, colleges, and other institutions around the world. The network had to be created without the assistance of most database management tools due to Rocket Lab's unique security requirements. Since its rollout in November 2021, the Space Ambassador Schools network has grown to over 600 schools with an estimated student reach of over 1 million. - Re-established the Space Ambassador Program, which was initially launched in July 2021 and halted due to lack of operating personnel and the COVID-19 lockdown of August 2021. Since the program was re-launched, Space Ambassadors have met with over 22,000 students across New Zealand, the United States, and Canada; the Space Ambassador cohort has quadrupled and expanded to all of Rocket Lab's nine global sites. - Established the Space Educator Program, a teacher development accelerator to promote and support teachers developing innovative STEM- and space-centred classroom experiences, to maximise impact and reduce workload. The Space Educator Program was successfully adopted by Pacific Gateway, the Long Beach Economic Development corporation; 28 educators were inducted in 2022, with an estimated student reach of over 250,000 per year. - Brokered partnership with MOTAT and established the first industry-led rocketry club. - Designed and delivered internal training programs to induct Space Ambassadors and specialised tutors. - Appointed to the Goal 4 working group for the Space Workforce 2030 pledge. - Auxiliary livestream host and assistant.
