Headed up the Digital Play strategic development area globally within LEGO Ventures. My responsibility was to build and execute our long-term strategy to iterate the LEGO brand’s thesis in the Digital Play / Gaming space, primarily through investment and partnership. Initiated and drove forward $1bn investment from LEGO / KIRKBI into Epic Games, along with a number of early and later stage venture investments in gaming - where I also held board or advisor positions.

Led a core team of 50 and a wider product team of over 100, I was responsible for overall Digital Consumer Engagement strategy and implementation, targeting LEGO's core audience of kids and their parents - developing high quality digital experiences and products, linking digital engagement and physical LEGO bricks to improve and expand creative play, and inspire kids & parents subscribe to LEGO experiences, get closer to the brand and to build and share their amazing creations. Key successes included the launch and running of LEGO Life (a creative social platform for LEGO kids - 20m users), the reboot of LEGO.com as an integrated brand/retail site, expansion of LEGO ID across the LEGO games & apps ecosystem and the first iteration of the new Digital Building Instructions app. Was interim VP of broader digital consumer engagement area for six months prior to taking MD (VP) role in LEGO Ventures.

Led a 30+ team around the marketing and brand planning for the launch of BBC Store, a commercial digital content retail offering adjacent to BBC iPlayer, ensuring that the UX, design, content, brand values and promise are inherent throughout both the product, and the communications around it. Commissioning research to ascertain the right target audience segments for BBC Store, and then use that information to plans an effective launch campaign across owned, earned and paid-for media. BBC Store subsequently evolved into Britbox, a joint venture with ITV providing British TV content through digital subscription.
